As soon as Aline steps out into the warm Mallorca breeze, we notice an irresistible energy around her, humble, wise and intuitive. The collar of her light satin blouse shines in the afternoon sun, highlighting a certain twinkle in her eyes, which have seen the beauty beyond the coast of Palma. We propose sitting in a place in the tropical garden of the Palacio Can Marques, a hotel with his design that he gave life to together with his partner Kim. He accepts, while removing a few curled leaves from the sofa, sits down and smiles before we even begin.
We start at the beginning, until it becomes clear that there could be several principles. The words leave his lips like liquid, splashing conversations once held and cities then experienced. There is richness in his descriptions, which follow a thread of creative force, from fashion catwalks to flea markets, from one continent to another. The furniture she moved around as a child was the first sign of a designer who would see no limits to her creativity. We notice the same thing in his story, as we move from choosing African masks to commissioning stone statues in Florence.
